Mother’s Day is Sunday and that has been traditional arrival point for the hummingbirds after their long trip north after soaking up the sunshine and margaritas in their winter home in Mexico. Last weekend I heard just a couple of their distinctive chitters in my neighborhood so I hung out the first feeder of the year. Later in the same afternoon, I spotted the first hummer to stop for a fill-up at my feeder!
Maybe, with the arrival of the hummingbirds, summer will finally arrive properly. We have had an unusually wet and extended season of lousy spring weather so far, with few scooter riding days. But maybe the weather will turn the corner into a warm and dry summer and after I get back from a week’s vacation, I can get some outside tasks accomplished.
